Evan Szewczyk, LMHCA

Hello! My name is Evan, and I am a mental health counselor practicing in Carmel, as well as through telehealth for anyone in the state of Indiana. I completed both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Ball State University, where I got my first experiences in the counseling world. I have practiced in many settings, including community mental health centers, private practice, schools, and addiction recovery centers. This wide range of clinical experiences has allowed me to build skills in working with many different populations, with some primary areas including children and teens (5 and up), trauma survivors, anxiety and depression, OCD, and people struggling with addiction.

Working with kids and teens was always the plan for me, as I had a great experience with an individual therapist in my childhood that led me to the pursuit of therapy as a career. Through my clinical training, I was able to practice primarily with kids and teens, learning a lot about play therapy with my littles, and learning how to help my older kids and teens navigate all the stress that can come with school or major life adjustments. I also have a lot of experience working with kids with ADHD and behavioral issues, and can help work with your child on how to better manage impulsive behaviors or outbursts that are interfering with school, family, and social life. As a parent myself, I strongly believe that including the parents in the treatment of all my kids and teens is important, as you help to shape the world of your kids, and you are the biggest support they have!

Another passion of mine is working with trauma, and I have been trained and certified to practice EMDR therapy in order to most effectively help my trauma clients. EMDR was something I studied since I was early in my master’s program, and being able to get certified and start working with clients, I have been able to see the truly life-altering results that can come from it. For more information on EMDR therapy, feel free to check out our FAQ, as I strongly believe this is an outstanding route for treatment of trauma and PTSD. As always, I am happy to chat more about how EMDR could benefit you through a free 15-minute consultation call!

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our baby boy, which takes most of my time right now! When I do get free time, I like to play video games and board games, watch football (Go Colts!), and watching movies and TV shows with my wife.

While kids, teens, and trauma survivors are my primary focuses, my vast experience in various clinical environments has given me experience and training working with many common mental health concerns. If you are curious about how I might approach your specific concerns, feel free to contact me using the Let’s Talk button below or schedule a free consultation, and I am happy to discuss with you and provide more information about the work that we could do together!
